General Note
This is a review of the accessibility of the theater, of the lighting/sound/scent design of the show, and a list of content warnings as a way to prep folks with various needs before they go see it.
This is not meant to scare anyone away from seeing the show. Most productions have about the same amount of content warnings and sensory warnings to go along with it, they’re just rarely explicitly written down.
For some people, knowing these things ahead of time makes it easier to enjoy the show because they know what to expect. And, often, makes those people more likely to see it in the first place. I hope that it’s helpful!

Theater
Orpheum Theatre
All comments on the accessibility of lighting are in reference to seats in the far right of the second row
Bathrooms:
divided into the binary
located up twenty-six steps to the right of the box office. At the top of the stairs, take a left and then another left
each stall in the women’s room has a step up
Other theater accessibility:
this theater is not wheelchair accessible
they offer assistive listening devices
the orchestra level is up 5 steps and then has one step down for most rows

Light/Sound
I might recommend earplugs for this show
the show runs 90 minutes with no intermission
the stage is consistently very hazy
there are yellow lights on the sides and back of the stage that all point at the audience but typically remain fairly dim during the show
most songs end with a single light pulse
the sensory accessibility of this show is similar to that of All the Devils Are Here and Illinoise
The Show:
“search for a day” - transition into live music which can be a bit startling; there is also a white flash
right after Casual Sex, Pizza, and Beer ends, there is a quick shift to louder volume and on/off lights – this is the flashiest number of the show and is purple/blue/yellow. It never feels strobey, but it does have lights moving at and over the audience
Valentine’s Day - content warning for physical abuse and visualizations of said abuse
white back lights pointed at the audience after the sheet comes down
Falling Apart - song directly after Valentine’s Day. You can physically feel the bass in this song a bit
Hosing the Furniture - smoke into the front audience at the end of the number that is slightly scented but dissipates quickly
newscasters crescendo into being very loud with some physical bass that ends when the flags pop down from the ceiling
the next song has a few referee whistles
confetti is thrown on the audience at the end
Iron Mike - occasional brief blinking red light on the top right of the stage (appears 4 times)
White Male World - quick flash of lights up after previous song; on/offs through the number
2 big loud (& physical) drums after the final “free”
